Hi guys,

Im thinking of moving my numberplate onto my grill, but how much will this affect the airflow/cooling of the engine?

Cheers, Tom

it shouldnt affect it to much as it will generate negative pressure behind the plate wich will suck air quickly around the edges of the plate so as long as there is good space top and bottom of the plate you should be fine

when moving your plate to the grille your actually opening up the sump which is one of the things that needs air so whilst your blocking one off your opening up anoter!?!?

"Everything in life can be solved using either WD40 or duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40; if it moves and it's not supposed to, use duct tape."

Not quite sure on the legal requirements for holding the number plate in place, if indeed there are any... I expect actually if you're that way inclined you could probably make yourself a couple of brackets to hold it on. Would just need a long enough bolt to go from the front side of the number plate to behind the grille, then a bit of metal the engine side of the grille to hold it in place. Might rattle though... might bend the grille too, it's not particularly solid... I'll let someone else figure it out!!

simple effective way if you have letters or numbers with vertical lines is two holes, one top and one bottom of each letter and a black cable tie. this way you cant see the tie and it is faily solid as it can be pulled tight enought so it doesnt slide sideways

yeah it doesnt look great close up but you cant see if you use the same colour tie and it runs down the letter say a number 1 if it was a 2 and the tie went across some yellow it would look bad. but yeah it should only be a temp fixing till you manufacture somethig better

Why would it go across yellow?

Front plate is white :dontgetit:

Pop some allen head bolts through it and bolt behind some flat ally bar which you can get from B&Q for about £2-3 for a metre.
