The original BMC engine green was Land-Rover Bronze Green, unless I'm mistaken.

Maybe its an age thing but when I was 17 it was bright red for the extra 10bhp, now mine are black engine with a mowog green rocker box, and mowog green engine with black rocker box.

Considered bright orange for my orange sportspack , but mowog green looks just 'right' imo.

BMC green is my favorite, just love the retro look. (British Standard Middle Bronze Green (BS 223) Had a brand new 1981 HL engine was yellow, now I have an 82 Mayfair which is also yellow.

...but green engines are good for the environment...
Seriously, the BMC green is a lovely colour for engines, I just wanted something unique and different. 😛

The original BMC engine green was Land-Rover Bronze Green, unless I'm mistaken.

Indeed it was, Landrover mid-bronze green, as many Series 1 Landrovers were painted.

Gloss black does look nice - especially with all the brightwork re-plated, but I do love the green (with or without black highlights.   Never been much of a fan of red - a bit brash!

If you're thinking of converting to steam I think you may need a bigger engine than the one on the bench!

Has to be green, black and silver

Or what is it they say.

Red: makes more power but less reliable

Green: most reliable:

Blue: will never over heat

I went for Chevvy Orange in the Por15 range.  The  block's not painted yet - the can hasn't even been opened for a sneaky peek- I hope I don't regret it :-P
