Hi Eveyone!

I've Just decided to Buy a MINI Cooper RSP 1990 after lusting for one after so many years but i am now facing the 'joys' of minis if you could call it that :P.

Any way yes there is a hole in the rear right hand side of the roof and i am unsure on how to repair it. Attached File  IMG_4317.JPG   41.33K   23 downloads

I have two ideas on how to go about it one is to tac two pieces of metal plate on either side of the hole then make a small infill piece tac in place then build the shape of the roof back by using filler or the other is to cut this section out of another roof and replace... I have thought about just buying a new roof and replacing the whole thing because most of the drain channel is flaking and rusty. But I don't think i have a the knowledge to be able to do this and make a good job plus the RSP has a soon roof as I'm sure you all know and i haven't been able to find a donor roof with a sunroof.

Many Thanks Guys!

There's a roof for sale in the for sale section that may be useful if you want to do localised repairs. Only £20

I think a good second hand roof would be a start place to cut repair panels from, looks like the side by the rear side windows needs some work too. Also I believe Somerford Mini sell roof seals for the sunroofs on RSP Coopers. Good luck with project and keep us all updated.

Lol welcome to RSP ownership.
I would cut prices from another roof and weld in.

It still looks better than my RSP.

mini cooper RSP. its the limited edition launch model for the new rover mini cooper. RSP stands for the team that developed the look of it... Rover Special Products.

it does NOT stand for Rover Special Production as most people on ebay seem to think these days.

i say they developed the look because the engine side is basically an MG metro engine stuck in a mini and this was the idea of John Cooper, although the RSP team did develop the fitting of it.

in very basic terms the car is a mini racing/flame/checkmate LE with a mini 30 interior and an MG metro engine. nothing on the car is particularly new, its just a clever coming together of existing parts.

the official name is just Mini Cooper, but the RSP tag has become the accepted way of identifying the car.

one of the few carb Rover coopers, they are surprisingly nippy and very nice cars to own.

Are you on the register Harry?

The website is pretty dead as most people are on the Facebook page.
