i have to say when i do tighten head down they are always lightly oiled. how can the average home spanner monkey do it any other way? there is always oil and water about and i would hazzard even new studs for BMC/BL/ROVER would have come "oiled"

never liked the idea of putting a drop of oil on the threads as it could beat me to sealing the head gasket and cause "issues".

I also wonder what the definition of wet and dry are.
