Are you buying it privately or from a dealer?

A dealer should be able to assist with the insurance - or even the private person you are buying it off may allow you to use their address.

I suppose the approach from the Swiss company is very 'Swiss' ;-)  I've purchased cars in Germany and obtained UK insurance documents that has no registration just a vin number ...then in Germany I can then stick transport plates on the car and drive it home ...the plates last anywhere between one week and a month, so plenty of time to get the lights changed, it MOT'ed and registered.

The last one I imported was at the height of the Eurotunnel issues back in June 2015 - neither the French or UK customs took any notice of a car with export plates on it ...

I have purchased also a few cars from Germany. Super easy with the export plates.

Im sure there is also an easy way to drive a uk car easy home without waisting money for a trailer.
