Did you paint yours with cellulose paint, if so how many coats? I did mine however learnt a few lessons as I went. Wouldn’t say it’s bad but could be better.

2k chromec[i think its called] paint its really good, the problems i was having before all sorted, it was air pressure problem due to putting the reg on the wall not on the gun, and just bad settings. It paints really well, and will be using it on my Lada also.

not a massive update, been busy with the rally car, Lada, and other cars! but!

this is the engine bay now, i made the brake pipes, and bought a few new bits for it. i am not rushing putting it back together, id rather the Lada was done, and this was just something to do.

took the heater apart tonight, will take some time to get it cleaned up and back right

got the wiring loom out also, and had a look. found 1 damaged wire, but all in all its still in good condition. going to have to do something about the connectors on it, dont look the best. would be easy to use superseals, but i want it to look right... i re taped it in non adhesive tape.

i bought some headlight bowls from aliexpress, i couldnt work out how to fit them. then i realised i need the old metal back part, the new metal front part, and it pivoted on a screw. I didnt like it, the adjusters just sat int he plastic, the chrome looked like it would last days, so i modded it all. I first drilled out the adjuster holes and pushed thread inserts into them. that sorted out the first issue. I then thought that using the orininal mounting idea was best. I drilled the plastic bowl and mounted a spring in there. I then added the original mount to the light and used the original rubber gasket wing to plastic bowl.

i think its well better, i dont know how people use those kits, but for £20, it was well worth it when modded.

Agree the adjusters in the plastic work once (when new) but as soon as the screw gets any dirt or corrosion on it it just wrecks the thread in the plastic (if you adjust them) and then they've had it

Like the idea of adding rivnuts to the plastic - did you crimp them onto the plastic bowl or are they just pushed in (if just pushed in did you try to make them a tight fit and do they stay in OK?)

I've had plastic bowls for probably 30 years and they still do the job,how often do you need to adjust your lights anyway.Coming along nicely.Steve..

i just push fitted them into the plastic, i drilled them 5.5mm then opened them out to suit.

sonscar, yes i get what you mean but at least one of the bowls the thread didnt work, and i just did it as well, it was more better ;))

Agree they don't need adjusting often if ever once set correctly but I've been on a few cars where they have been "over-enthusiastically used" and the threads are gone
