Couple of suggestions:

- first check the valve seat very carefully. Chances are it will be OK

- before putting back on the road check the fuelling, as running lean will burn out exhaust valves

 

If I can also add, retarded Ignition Timing will also do it.

This one was a result of the wrong distributor and retarded ignition timing coming from the wrong distrbutor

That will definitely lower the compression......
