Hi,

I've read a couple of conflicting figures, but have set it at 12 degrees above top dead centre at tickover. Does anyone know from experience is this is too advanced/retarded? Cheers

dont have my haynes with me, so cant actually help ;D mines an 89 and i set it at 8 degrees, think its wrong though lol. if it runs ok and feels right then it probably is....

could be wrong though.

10 - 12 degrees sounds about right for a sprite, 1500rpm with vacuum pipe disconnected!! set it to 12 degrees!! if all is ok there then u can advance it a little further!! just as long as u cant hear pinking whing ur driving it!!

Cheers, i set it at 12 on fast idle with the vacuum disconected and it's running well, should be fine. It's going for it's MOT on Wednesday...a little nervous. The fail sheet it had from it's last attempt of an MOT, before I bought it, carried over two pages. Fingers Crossed!
