During driving the engine just shuts down always in the afternoon and evening, suprisingly not in the morning. Most of the time I have to wait about 20sec. and then she will start again. I have checked the following: vacuumhoses, bobine, sparkplugs, rotor, distributionhood, fuses, fuelpump, and fuelcap (sorry if my english is not correct). These are all working properly. Somebody got any ideas?

I had similar problems in the past. Car would drive fine, then suddenly cut out - completely dead, no engine or electrics. Would happen when something electrical was switched on - at one point this was indicating to change lanes at 60mph! Turned out to be a corroded live cable from battery to engine.

thanks all.
The battery is fine. The car will start. The problems are:
He will shut down while driving and after waiting the car wil start again.
The next problem is that he runs stationary to 3000 rpm
the vacuum hoses are new.

worth a try cleaning all contacts on the fuel pump relay,check the wiring on the fuel cut off switch.

Get a reader on it. Being an SPI it's quite a simple three wire plug in your engine bay and there's a free app for android called MEMSDiag_lite that works very well for quick checks.
That said, I'd be interested in looking at the flywheel sensor as well as mk1leg mentioned.

Hi, I am a new member but have just seen your post, I am a mechanic and if I understand you correctly your mini idles at 3000rpm?, if so you almost certainly have an air leak on your inlet system, even if your hoses are good its worth checking that your distributor vac advance unit diaphragm has not failed (if you have a distributor ) if this is ok its a case of finding the leak, hope this helps.

Last week i replace the air intake sensor.
unfortunately it din`t work.
The mini still shut down.
Would someone could tell me where the flywheel sensor sits.

it's by the starter motor, it;s got a blue connection on it

Hi I have and SPI/ MPI cross it’s a Japan Rover Mini 2000 year model.
Hay I am having the same problem while driving for about 15 minutes the engine Shuts Down. All of the other vehicle electrical seams fine. The Indicator, Horn, radio, ect are ok. What I have noticed after 5 minutes it will restart with no issues and drive for about 2 minute and the engine Shuts Down again.
I did some verifications during the attempted failed restarts, there was no fuel to the injector and fuel pump was off, also there are no sparks to the spark-plugs. I replace the Electronic Coil pack I got the same results.
I will replace the Crank angle sensor today and provide some feedback, any suggestions are welcomed.

I replaced my Crank Angle Sensor and drove for about an hour and all seams well.
In summary if you have an engine Shuts Down issue verify if you are getting Fuel and spark to the spark-plugs it might just be the Crank Angle Sensor.

have you checked all the fuses are clean and good contacts?
