Hi
I have a Mk1 998 MORRIS COOPER, and sill enough to put too much oil into the engine after an oil change. The actual level is aboit 4-5mm above the maximum mark.
Is it safe to leave it like thatm or will this cause engine/ seal damage?
Thanks

Just loosen the sump plug and let a bit out.

Drain some out; too much oil can be just as bad as too little.
As it will cause damage to the engine, seals by there being to much oil in the sump causing higher pressure than normal in that area and probably the gear box as well.

it should breath most of it, but not all. 4mm is alot over the max!!!according to different people they say u should go no higher than the "X" on "MAX", im sure i read that from one of Keith Calvers articles.
have fun draining it though, its a bugger to just loosen it n tighten it again as when u remove the sump plug u should replace the rubber seal too to keep a tight seal
