There are so many threads on clutches but i cannot find one that relates to my problem.
i have a verto set up from a 1983 998 that i have used on my 1275 cooper carb conversion. The slave cylinder is stuck out as it would be if the clutch pedal was depressed. It is behaving like it needs an exterior return spring on it a la pre-verto. is there a spring that should return it on the inside of the bell housing?
the clutch pedal moves in and out nicely but the arm inside the slave does not move.
please tell me what ive done?? Is it possible i have put the spring inside the bell housing the wrong way round??
cheers james
Clutch not returning please help

right its. not verto.
should have a spring i think (clutches confuse me). the spring go's from the top of the arm (that the slave cylinder arm is attached to) to the back of the slave cylinder were theres a little bit on the bleed nipple to attach the spring to.

pretty sure it is verto as its a short arm with no spring. Did they make a short arm with a spring?

hold on i'll go flick thro a hayne book see what i can find.
edit.
can you push it back? if so is it difficults. i was looking earlyer about clutch springs and somone was one about how the master cylinder seals had gone south and made the clutch stick out insted of letting it travel back.

I've sorted it. I've left the thrust washer out of the flywheel housing, this should space out the lever arm enough to allow it to move. thanks for your help

you could have air in the hydraulic system!! try bleeding it all out!! it can often be awkward if the valves in the master cylinder are full of C**p!!
