A neighbour - and best friend - many years ago once commented that he'd never seen someone use a hammer so skillfully me. To this day, I'm not sure which way to take that !!

Maybe this is not the right forum but does anyone know what a sledge hammer is ?, because I'm buggered if I do.

I'm wondering if this is one of the different country translations?

In Aust, a sledge Hammers is a long handled lump hammer, usually about a 9 lb head and a 3' handle, so it can be swung over the head. Can be used for breaking concrete etc, but loads of hard work.

Maybe it's an Aussie/ Kiwi thing? Sledge hammer, also known as a BFH. Big  F*#$ing  Hammer!

From Wikipedia: "The word sledgehammer is derived from the Anglo Saxon "slægan", which, in its first sense, means "to strike violently"

Peter Gabriel knows what one is, I assume!
