I put a post up on here a few weeks back about prepairing and lacquring my kevlar bonnet, boot and wing mirrors.

I though that the problem with my lacqure was that it was coming awat from the lacqure and making it go white/creamy in places. but i started to rub it down today and found that the lacqure goes all the way down to kevlar, i found this out as i :gimme: all the way down to the kevlar and smudged a little bit of it, so i guess that there is just something wrong with the lacqure.

Does anyone know why this has happened or what could be the problem.

Also does anyone know how to fix the problem?

Any help would be great.

the lacqure could of been sprayed on to the kevlar on a damp day and has bloomed :gimme:

Is it gel coated? Could be the gel coat lifted..

You can sand it down with a D.A Sander if you have one, with wet and dry sanding pads and use plenty of water, if you havent had a go yourself go for it you wont wreck it aslong as your careful.

I noticed you have asked if someone wants to earn abit of money to do it for you, i would do it for you but im in essex. to be honest its not a job you couldnt do yourself.

What i can do if it helps is, i have some scrap CF here, i could sand it down too far and take pics to show you what it looks like? As i said before im not sure if its the same with kevlar but it'll give you a rough idea.

Let me know if it'll help.

Jobu that would be really kind of you if you would do that. i did have a go one one of the wing mirrors last night using wet and dry whilst wet and i started but i didnt seem to be getting anywhere so i focused on one of the small white spots and then i think i went to far as the kevlar smudged a bit but if i didnt go this far then it was still white.

I'll do it for you sometime tomorrow mate.

Why not take some close up pics of the problem areas on the parts, then perhaps smudger or someone else might jump in and give you some advice. Hopefully they will know exactly whats wrong and what you need to do.

Here is a picture of the bonnet it isnt close up but you can see that the white parts are everywhere. all down the middle, sides and front and then random spots in places.

Ill get some different pics up later as its alot worse than in the picture

it looks like those parts are not laquered , the shiney surface is the gel-coat so you need to talk to one of the carbon fibre/kevlar/fibre glass guys on here , Smudger or Scurvey dog (there are others as well)

Sorry didnt do that bit mate, started work this week and havent had time.

Looks like the gel coat has bubbled, i suppose all you can do is sand it rite down to the bare kevlar just like you would if it was laquer.

PM Smudger see if he can help, he might not have seen your post.
