Hi Folks!
I hope someone could help me.
I am slowly rebuilding an 87 city. The wiring loom was ripped out a long while back as it was rotten.
I am now trying to put the new one in....
Would anyone be able to post any photos of where relays go? also on the right hand side of the engine bay (when standing in front of the car), what is the risistor type thing attached to the bulkhead?
Any help is greatly appreciated.... the car hasn't run for 7 years and starting it is now in sight!
Cheers
Mike

your resistor type thing on the bulkhead is quite possibly the hazard flasher unit. the hazards and indicators have seperate units. should be right by the wiper motor.

resistor thing is for half dipped beam!! ie normal lights but turned on as sidelights only when the ignition is on to leave the normal side lights as parking lights!! the resistor should be behind ur radiator pretty much!! should have a round 3 pin connector going to it using 2 wires, 1 brown and the other brown with an orange tracer!! also for this u should have a pinkish headlight relay under the dashboard!!
dont quote me on the wire colours but its very close to that if im wrong!!
EDIT: for an 87 car u should have a 3 pin hazard/inicator unit under the dash tho i think 87 was a changover so u mite still have 2 seperate units 1 under dash for indicators and 1 in engine bay over by wiper motor for hazards!!

Ok Cool
I will have a look at that tonight.
The new loom I have has no markings on it at all so alot of guess work and trying to rely on the haynes manual..... which is a little wooly on the subject...
If anyone knows anymore about relays that would be great.
Many thanks
Mike

as far as relays go tell me what colour wires u have and i can tell u what it does!! they changed positions of them so many times its hard to say what you'll have without looking at each one!!
