I have fitted my timing plate (with gasket & smear of Hylomar) and Torqued the Swiftune oil pump bolts to 8ftlb. When I fit the cam retaining triangular plate the SW5 cam binds to the extent that it's quite hard to turn using the timing sprocket. If I loosen either the retaining plate bolts or the oil pump bolts slightly it turns easily. suggestions please - 2nd oil pump gasket?

You're both quite right - I'd seen the previous issue but assumed this was different because the ballbearing in mine was quite deeply into the cam - not deeply enough obviously! I used a small blob of Blutac on the ball as suggested which was mashed to nothing once the oilpump was tightened so I rang Swiftune who offered to replace the cam (it's a problem with a small batch where the oilway that the ball caps was drilled too long) Because the clearance was minimal I decided to notch the pump drive tang and this has solved the problem.

theres somethng up at the pump end, remove the pump and torque it all up at the pulley and and check it turns,
then stick a bit of bluetac or plasticine in the cam shaft oil drive hole and fit the pump without the gasket, just nip the bolts by hand and pull it off agan and see if you can identify where its contacting, then report back.
there was a guy the other day that had an SW5 with a ball bearing that blanks the oil drillings that was proud and fouling the oil pump drive, maybe the same issue?
