All I want is the lift under the knob for reverse feature
As I said a bit earlier....
Then get this standard gear change one made by KAD.... It's got the reverse for lift feature which is nice I have to admit!

I've fitted one to Project 45. Works great although you'll need the nylon cup to fit it and I'd suggest when you do fit the nylon cup to remove the pin at the top of the gear lever, rather than the grub screw at the bottom when detaching the internal steel cable that pulls the pin up at the bottom. All will become clear when you get it!

Will this fit directly onto a normal gearbox?

It will indeed!
It's a lovely piece of kit. Well all KAD stuff is really.

Cheers, I'll start putting a bit of money away for it then!

Unless you are driving in a wild situation like a motor race, or are a rotten driver, this is a bit of a luxury.
True, I found a thread about it saying it's very stiff, hard to fit and difficult to change from 3rd to 4th too
I love Kad's quickshift! Can only imagine there's a problem elsewhere if it's difficult to change gear.

I've got two of the cheapo ones; one works really well but I added a couple of extra tapped holes to the mounting collar to make it more sturdy on the gear change.
The other has never worked well and I have always had trouble in the 3rd-4th gear change (but no problem anywhere else) - I've had a play with it whilst the engine was out of the car so I'll let you know if my "bodgifications" have improved things as I hope to get the car back on the road in the next week or so.
Mod/bodge is mainly sanding the plastic ball (to reduce its diameter slightly) and moving the bottom plate of the housing on its screws (slight amount of slop when you try it) to allow the lever to move slightly further to the right and back in the gate - I think that's why it doesn't work well but I'm not totally sure
In my first mini I used one of the earlier type with no lift up collar for reverse - it worked fine.
I think that came from Midland Wheels when they first appeared at the mini shows (was it that long ago?) - their prices back then for the specific things they supply were way better than anyone else and I couldn't afford a genuine KAD one.
I just like the lift up collar reverse; the reduced travel also makes it feel better in my opinion.
