The value in a mainstream cooper is in it's originality. I'd remove the dash and go with a 3 clock cluster, source some proper cooper seats but if not the seats you have are often mistake for the correct ones and imo won't devalue the car.

I loved my mainstream and of the various mini's I've bought and sold over recent years, it's the one I'd wish I'd kept.

Re the seats

a couple question

would the frames be the same as a cooper?

if they were re covered could they be made the same as cooper seats

by the reading from Somerfords it looks a possibility

found original dashboard backing 3 clock cluster on the way

painted the original spot light brackets today.

Going for the original as possible option

that's ok then

they will be cooper once re upholstered

Now ?

do I go for original type cloth staying on the original track

or two tone leather red and black, would this be considered a personal update whim or still close enough to original with a better feel to the bum

I've been putting my mainstrean Cooper back to standard recently (indicators back to stock, interior back to stock etc).

I like the fact it looks like it did when it came off the production line.

I also like modded cars too as they are more individual / personal, so can see both sides of the argument.

Amongst others, I've had a mainstream cooper and a Tahiti in recent years and got bored as I could only maintain them unless I wanted to reduce their value. I now have a bits n pieces 998 and love that I can do what I like to it without fear of reducing the value.

Jasper's going to be sold once done seems the cheapest option is putting it back to standard, which should be the most profitable, though for me one the better parts of the exercise is bringing an oldie back into life, for a lot more certain better life than it previously had
