A few months ago when I was at work one of my elderly colleagues approached me and said that she had a mini that she was thinking of selling and asked me if I would be interested as she was giving up driving. I asked her what condition it was in. Her description was it's black and it's a limited edition. After a few weeks of thinking about it I agreed to have a look at it just for my own piece of mind. The minute I seen it I knew I had to have it. She went on to say that she's had it since new, has a private plate (again since new) and it's had a fair bit of work done to it over the years. It's had a complete front end which looks spot on (possibly heritage panels) and sills, not genuine but they are vented. The flutes look longer than standard so could they be Mk1 sills? It's also had a section welded in between the boot hinges but this isn't a tidy job and one which will need corrected at a later date.
Car when purchased
New pressed plates, headlights and stainless steel bumper fitted.
The plan for now is to just keep it on the road, tidy it up and enjoy it until I get a chance to fully restore it. The MOT is due in October and already I have a few jobs to do to it before I put it up for test. Jobs include Balljoints, CV boot and a few small bits of welding.
