Hello Everyone.

I have a 1993 Rover Mini Mayfair 1275.

After trying to install an aftermarket stereo my mini now won't start.

I used the existing wiring harness and plugged it into the back of the new stereo. The engine started up but there was no power to the stereo.

I turned off the engine and disconnected the stereo.

About an hour later the mini wouldn't start and hasn't since. The engine turns over but won't fire.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking?

Hi,

Try a jump start or charge the battery first

If that's not done the job then check you have power to the ignition coil white wire.

Does it have electronic ignition?

I've tried a booster battery but no luck.

Yes, it has electronic ignition.

I'll check the coil and come back!

It turned out that the engine was flooded... I switched the engine on only briefly to move cars around on the drive. My fault entirely!

I've managed to get it running now and I've taken it out for a drive but it struggles to hold revs when idling. Will this improve over time when normal order has been restored?
