Mpi Steering Wheel Advice

I have a 2000 Mpi Sport Pack and intend to change my horrid Rover steering wheel for a much more attractive semi-dished 13" wooden Astrali.
Anybody know what size resistor I need to fool the SRS system into believing I still have an airbag fitted? Is it 3.3 ohms?
And can anybody confirm it's a 19mm socket I need for the steering wheel nut?
I have an MGF boss kit and a Moto-Lita 6 to 9 hole adaptor + horn press kit on order.
Any other installation tips would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm going the MGF boss route too, and have a black leather Nardi wheel to fit, but that seems a long way away!
My local MOT tester (who will be testing the car once complete) told me it's best to lose the SRS light all together, if removing the airbag. If there is an SRS light, then he has to see it functioning properly (coming on with the ignition lights, then going off once running) and that he would have to see an air bag steering wheel in place. No airbag, no SRS light, no problem. As such when I built up my new gloss black MPI dash I just found a small black pipe end cap to put in place of the removed SRS light. I did consider a small toggle switch or similar, but in the end the cap looked best. I'd have gone for a non-mpi dashboard, but wanted to retain the headlight level switch on the right.
Note: Not saying this is right/wrong in terms of MOT testing rules and regs, just what I've decided, and am fairly confident that my tester will be happy with. I think there is a rule somewhere that if the car originally came with an airbag, it must have one.

Further research reveals that it's a *2.7 ohm* resistor I need to ensure the SRS light goes off.

Hi,
Just be aware your insurance is void without a valid MOT.
Whether your insurance will class an MOT pass as proof the airbag was fitted at the time or they may refuse to pay out as a safety item is missing from the car when involved in an accident...?

Hi,
It's certainly a lot smaller than the early Mini's but I can't check as I'm 2500mls from mine until Sunday.
Cheers

My full system is removed, including seatbelt tensioners and the module under the back seat.
Bobbins - my all black MPI wheel will be up for grabs, but may be a while as it is still fitted and the car is at the bodyshop.

My current one's the JDM version with magnolia hand sections and sadly looking a little worn. Been after an all black one for a while and spotted a "new old stock" one a couple of hours ago so bought it ... oh what timing!

But a question - how do I connect a Moto-lita centre horn press with a single terminal on its underside to the car? There are black & red wires going into the rotary coupler.
Thanks in advance.
