I don't think car covers are ideal. Whilst they do protect the car from rust etc they are not kind on the paintwork. I've had a car covered for most of the winter and I now have blister marks all over it. Whilst it is a car that will be re-painted it does make me think about using a cover on a car that is in good condition.

The chap that did my bodywork said not to put a cover on the car after it was painted. I made that mistake of thinking it would be okay after two years. But clearly not, thankfully it is just the roof.

Hence the need for a portable garage that is waterproof whilst I wait for planning to resolve itself.

I’d just bite the bullet and treat yourself to this:
https://www.carcoon....-carcoon-size-2

You’d recoup most of your money by selling it on later

That would be great but not so practical for actually using the car regularly in the summer....

I don’t think they’re that much hassle and it’s one summer (assuming your planning issues are soon resolved).

When the weathers good, you may not need to use it. When the weathers bad, you won’t be putting the car in and out anyway.

When you say blister marks, do you mean scratches or rust?  I've heard this complaint before but not really seen any pictures so would be great if you can provide any.

I've been using an indoor Carcoon Veloce through the winter and was really amazed by how clean my Mini has stayed, even fine dust doesn't settle on it, I'm definitely a convert! I left the windows half open to allow airflow inside the car as well.

Unfortunately I now need the space to continue the work on my son's tired Mini City so my Mini is now outside under a normal car cover ... I can't say I'm happy about it!

I believe Carcoon will do an outdoor version of the Veloce as a special order, although I've no idea of cost, I can't imagine it'd be cheap. The drive in drive out ability of the Veloce is brilliant though.

It's microblisters, I'll take some pics but basically the paint has bubbled predominantly where the cover has touched it.

So in the end I purchased a Dancover portable garage with the PVC cover.

Significantly better than the Bike Shelter, clearly waterproof and gives me more room to boot.

All I had to do was to refabricate the metal brackets provided so I could use them with through bolts and some homemade washers to secure it to the driveway.

Overall very pleased and worth the additional £100.

Now I just need planning for something made of bricks....
