posted a problem with my rad fan catching last week on the bottom of the cowling. I trimmed the fan down a bit and it stopped it catching as much. thought id drive it to see which blades were still catching before takeing any more off. took it for a long run this weekend and it gradually started to catch more and more. it was ok when running but sat in traffic on way back in D (auto) the rad went fairly sure fan hit it. Any one know what might be causing it to catch more some time and not others and how to fix before fitting new rad and having it happen all over again?
cheers
p.s check pic for major fan damage.

if you can, run the engine and look to see if the fan wobbles.
might be the water pump is bugger and needs changing. well.....thats the only thin i can thing of.

You may well need some extra/bigger rad fan spacers mate! And those modifications wouldn't aid cooling-sorry, i'm sure you know that but i would suggest a new fan and some more/less spacers! I currently have 3 (i think) 5 mm spacers on mine as had a similar problem.

could be the water pumps as said before might also be the bushes that hold the rad in place best thing if you still have it fitted is grab the near the base and try to wobble it if there is no movement back and forward then grab the top of the rad move that back and forward then left and right tis the only things i could think of
when mine went it was the water pump but it might not be the case with yours

Can you provide a pic from above the engine, to the side of the rad (say, stood at the drivers wing) of the rad? It looks to me like your top rad bracket is quite bent, but also that the rad is sat at quite an angle.

Motor mount sagging?
That's what mine was.
New mounts all around including torque arm.

The rad is sitting too high.
Is the bottom bracket fitted correctly
Or
Is this an 'auto' engine with a 'manual' bottom rad bracket???
