Hi all,

Something i've noticed more and more as i moved the car in and out the garage, but more prominently yesterday after mapping and going over speed bumps - The car has quite a loud banging sound as i go over bumps.  This afternoon i'm going to fully investigate, the list below is what i'll most likely check, but if there's something else, please let me know!

Subframe mounts

trailing arm mounts and bearings

wheel bearings

shock mounts

Hi-lo's and cones

Exhaust

ALL of the above are brand new or reconditioned, so i'm hoping its not wear.  Have i potentially missed something out??

I think you've covered most possibilities there.

With everything new, my money would be on shock mounts - they sometimes settle in the top mounts and then need nipping up again. I've also had them where the lower bush centre is oversize and rattled on the pin.

Make sure the battery is securely clamped down

Speedbumps.... could be exhaust clamps clipping them...I try to have the bolts pointing sideways rather than straight down

It does it with the exhaust off.

I think I've pinned it down to the N/S rear shock top. Which means the tank has to come out :(

OK, so I think I've sourced it to the rear n/s shock mount. The protech shocks come with 2 large washer/collets to surround each Bush. Humour me here, but a lot of kits only have 1 and allow the body to sit between the 2 bushes. Could I just remove the inner washers where the sit against the body and allow the compression to hold it in?

I think I’ve only ever used the shaped washers on the ‘outside’ of the bushes and used the cups on the wheel arch to retain the other side of the bush

I'm going to give It a go later and see if it's improved!

Hey, just taking this up again as I seem to have the same issue... was it the N/S shock mount in the end?

Steve, would you happen to have a photo of what you did? I can't get my head round it from your description!

Stu.

On the rear shock uppers there are 2 bushes, each has a cupped washer either side of them. I removed the inners cups so the rubber mounts directly to the arch.
