Ahh. Where is the ECU earth? Is it a separate connection or is the metal casing earthed?

I will try to test the crank sensor

 Tested this and it give off between 300mv and 800mv when cranking. Not sure if thats normal?

You can see the bolt with the eyelets attached. Just above the ECU. (in the photo, not in reality.)

Someone buy that man a beer! It worked The ECU earth had fallen down the back and was making occasional contact with the engine. I fitted tight and now its running well. Many thanks to all the replies!
