So I MOT’d my mini yesterday after it’s winter hibernation. I had made the car SORN from about January till yesterday after the MOT when i taxed it. The MOT is showing up this morning when I’ve checked but still shows as SORN. I understand it can take 5 days to show up on the system. so my question is do I drive it today? I have an emailed receipt of the tax payment so I guess I could show that if I got stopped?

Can take 2-3 days for all the online things to join up, had the same problem last year when I taxed the Special. Drive it like you stole it and enjoy every mile! No worries with the systems not being refreshed, you’ve made the payments and have your on line receipts.

I'd think the receipt is fine until the system updates.

You've paid, got your receipt, drive the car!

The moment you tax a vehicle using the online system or using a post office, you ARE taxed and legal to drive (you would need to have insurance and MOT to TAX unless yours is historic)

The only issue you could face is if you're coming to the end of the month and you opt for the tax to begin the following month (youd have been given an option for when you wanted it to start) however as it's only been a week into the month you should be ok.
