Red paint is one of those colours along with white that is notorious for oxidising. My wifes Red Polo suffered badly from that no matter what i did and my old white Cavalier SRI had the same issue.
The Red was bad for water spotting as well which was highly annoying. Both cars long gone now.
Modern paints tend to fair much better but also a lot of them will have clear coat which can lead to its own particular issues. Funnily enough i saw a Red VW Golf this week which had clear coat but was peeling off in strips. Was it original paint, i couldnt tell you but like anything its down to how well things are prepared and of course the quality of the product.
