so Ive had this for a few weeks now, dont know why...
Everytime i pull the choke my mini bogs down and sort of...dies? It doesnt help in raising revs to warm the car up or so. I know it called a choke but not like that right???

Any possible reason for this? The linkage seems to work fine. all mechanicals working. Engines tune seems fine :/

Have you checked the fast idle screw adjustment?

AHA! Maybe thats the cause.... so it should increase the fast idle and lower the jet at the same time right?

IIRC the choke should be set to the first inch or so activates the fast idle then pulling he choke further lowers the jet to make the mixture richer

From the factory manual:

Pull out the mixture control knob until the linkage is about to move the jet, and lock the knob in this position.

Turn the fast idling screw until the correct fast idling speed is obtained.

Return the control knob and check that a clearance exists between the fast idling screw and its cam.

Fast idle speeds:

850       1200 rev/min

1000     1300 rev/min (manual)

1000     1200 rev/min (automatic)

1100     1200 rev/min

1275     1300 rev/min

Information from the 1980 Austin Morris factory manual and is applicable to models from 1976 to 1980 but won't be far out for other years.

Adjustments to be made with engine fully warmed up.

You may find you have to fine tune this for your own requirements but I find the factory settings normally work well.
