also I "think" the 1.4 shares the same head gasket, so this could open up the avenue to use the late head and map the cam timing.

16v head dropped onto my block to et an idea of sizing/ clearance
In the third pic, how much does the head overhang the front of the block, and is it overhanging at the flywheel end as well ?

Front edge is around 10mm - 1/2" about had if the oil drain holes are exposed, but they are round so you could plug them and tap a hose into the side if the head and drain into the dizzy hole, the end of the head over hangs, but it's all the cam drive gears, nine if the gasket hangs over.

well, i have checked this out but it was a couple of years ago,
That is a pretty good fit, and most of the studs are not far out.

Come in I'm not gonna do all the hard work for you

Thanks for the info.
It is enough to encourage me to go and find a Fiat head.
Meanwhile, I am "working hard" to put a single overhead cam on my CAM 4810 head

Please may I beg one more bit of "hard work" from you ?
How long is the block casting ?

I had a chance to look over the information shared regarding this conversion. I thought I might try and get a few answers to some questions I have. (some stupid I’m sure)
Attached it a pic with the required mods to the Mini block.
Yellow- Stud positions. The centre bolt also which looks to like up very conveniently. Good start!
Blue- these are the positions for the waterways to the Fiat head. If these are drilled in the block will they find the Mini water jacket ok?
Red- Oil drains from head to the block. Will using 2 of the 6 be sufficient?
Can the rear 2 be drilled through the block into the oil gallery at the back of block? Or better off running externally to the fuel pump hole.
On the front 2 it looks like these will need to be run externally down front of block to the Dizzy hole?
Green- 2 oil drains from head to be blocked and unused.
Robert on his conversion used the Mini gasket. Is there any reason the Fiat gasket couldn’t be used saving the need for modifying the mini gasket?
