hi people,
well i got myself a bit of cash (woo hoo!) so i need to do some things to El Gordo as i got the MOT coming so i need to get my headlights sorted as one has gone south.
so i want to convert to halogen so i can see at night. i know wipac one's have been mentioned in a previous thread i did but i don't have a clue which ones i need.
also.
El Gordo is running like poo. but thats not the problem, she's started spluttering again and i think its the float again as i've been having trouble with it. should i replace the float, splindle thing (connect the flat to the lid, acts as a hinge) and the valve or could it be somthing worse.
also (yep theres more)
how upright should the float chamber be. mines on the wonk a bit...well alot from the new manifold. should it be more straight?
think thats it......yep. cheers folks.

Carb wise you mean the float and needle valve mate.
Lights wise, WIPAC QUADOPTICS, have a peekaboo at them, they're very good.
also you might find setting the bowl to the correct angle will stop the spluttering, if not cure it it will certainly help it get better.

I think he meant phone MiniSpares! At least that way you can ask them how many you're getting before you part with all your money.
Incidentally, what's all the fuss about the Quadoptics? I've heard people talking about them before, but no one's actually told me how they're different to any other sort of headlamp. It says on MiniSpares that they were fitted to all injection type Minis - if that's the case, I'd steer clear of them. My Mini is a SPi, and the headlamps it came with were pants, exactly the same sealed beam units as I had on my 998 Mini City. I had to keep checking the switch to make sure the lights were actually on! I've since replaced mine with Crystal Halogen headlamps, and not the cheapo ones from MiniSpares either - I made sure I got ones with the correct reflection pattern so that they'd pass the MOT! Made a HUGE amount of difference, and I'd definitely recommend them. At least, I would if I could only remember where I got them from....

Quadoptics have removable bulbs,... so you can whack in some nice high intensity bulbs and actually see where you're going.
personlly i like the ornage candle light glow that sealed beams give off, but that's because i'm old fashioned and go all nostalgic about an era when i wasn't even born lol.

The headlamps on my mini are excellent, they are non-standard and came with the car when i bought it, although I'm not sure what they are they don't look "special" in anyway, although they are halogen.
