there are holes where the directional vents normally go but instead of refitting them i wanted to see if anything else could go there... i did have an idea of somehow fabricating cup holders... maybe nicking some out of an old scrap car and chopping and fitting into the dash..

the holes are in the left of this pic... to the left of the glove box...

people normally boly speakers behind the holes, just make sure u block the air vent if ur gonna do this as the wind will be pushing them, affecting the sound
*just realises u already have speakers in custom consoles consoles (if that makes sense)*

I think you should house small animals behind the dash and feed them through the holes. dont block off the vent pipes they will suffocate

Well don't throw in the towel just yet, there is always room for some originality...

I happen to think the cup holder idea is pretty neat, I've never seen a Mini with cup holders where the air vents should be, so if you can find some that fit and look good, you may be on to a winner there. Alternatively, you could think about what people on those sides of the car would be interested in looking at. A passenger may be interested in seeing how quickly you can get from A to B, so a clock might be a nice addition on that side. If you're driving, you're probably not going to be counting the minutes, so you could think about putting a rev counter or a switch panel or something there, or maybe some sort of digital display showing how many miles per gallon of oil you're using! ;D

My philosophy on this kind of thing is that if it's not been done before, that's a great reason to do it.

Keeping animals behind the dash would be interesting. I'd want to replace the glove box door with a piece of glass though, so that they could see out. And the windscreen washer tubes are just the other side of the bulkhead, so as long as you only put water in the system you've got a handy way of giving your animals a drink too. The heater is just below to keep them warm in winter. You'd just need to train them not to chew through all your wires and cables for your clocks... :-

yeah i was thinking originality was the way to go... could look at putting a push start there?? or get some of i think its called 'rotostack' for a hamster then route it all around the dash board?? ;D don't know what the MOT man would say about that though....
