Apparently the 'How Many Left' website does not always give very accurate figures for the many variants and make/model descriptions of the classic Mini over the years.
These were the DVLA figures for the Classic Mini below published back in 2010 in the November issue of Mini Magazine:-
63,592 Classic Minis still registered in UK on October 1st 2010
of which:
32,847 were taxed,
30,745 on SORN
(Wolseley Hornet and Riley Elf derivatives were not included, see below)
A 'Freedom of Information request' by an Elf/Hornet Register member back in 2010 revealed:-
"On the 22 August 2010, there were 327 Riley Elf vehicles with a current licence and 225
with a SORN. Also, there were 275 Wolseley Hornets with a current licence and 166 with
a SORN."
I believe the numbers of high value Minis like the Mk1/2/3 Cooper S have actually increased since, due to barn find restorations and some log book rebuilds.......the new Mk1 BMH bodyshell should also help boost the numbers of Mk1 Minis returning to the roads and into Historic motorsport.
The DVLA publishes detailed datasets of all UK licensed vehicles every year here:-

Mini Production – How Many?
"Ian Nicholls of AROnline unravels the production data to try and come up with a definitive number of Minis built. He finds more questions than answers – but it looks like more than six million of all types were made.
In terms of sheer volume, the original Alec Issigonis-designed Mini is the most successful British car of all time, with an official figure of around 5.3 million being produced between 1959 and 2000. Most of these were produced by the Longbridge plant, which manufactured the Mini throughout the little car’s lifetime. However, even the official figures differ.
Chris Rees, in his book ‘Complete Classic Mini 1959-2000’, gives a figure of 5,378,776, supplied by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. Jon Pressnell, in his book ‘Mini – The Definitive History’, has a total of 5,387,862, as supplied by MG Rover. This is a difference of 9086. The difference between the two sets of figures appears to start in 1977......"
