Thanks everyone for your helpful comments and views. Much appreciated.

If there is a way around to having the gauges more visible, then I would leave the dash as is. Nevermind how much I love the centre speedo, but I agree it must also look like a 1999 Mini.

What exactly does the bracket do, does it angles the column a bit more toward the driver so the gauges are visible through steering?

I always found the behind steering wheel clocks hard to see.
Except with a standard clubman wheel or 1100 special wheel and the 3 or 2 clock paul hughes binacle . The later steering wheels always seem to obscure the clocks a bit. Perhaps I'm too tall.

Your dash angles the gauges incorrectly compared to a genuine dash - I've never liked them for that reason. They're too vertical, the genuine dash angles them more.
However even the genuine dash is only ok if you still have the original seats, and haven't lowered the column etc.
I like driving my mini the way it was intended, fairly upright, and in that position even though I'm 5'11", I can see all but the very bottom of the gauges.

Mine has the o/e Mpi type dash and I've fitted the W&P lowering block, no issues for me at 5'11 and no issues either when my daughter drives, she's 5' 3". As Rob says the angle is important.

That doesn't look like the original dash anyway. The genuine ones don't have a separate panel in the middle. The magnolia dials will be original though.

What does a genuine - factory fitted - dash panel look like? I have seen so many variations I don't know which is which :(
