Some progress on the Mini. Managed to finish one side, just have to spot weld the outer sill now.

I have made something quite unusual for the rear "stand support", as I wanted to weld the tube on more than the outer and inner sill. So made something like a "reinforcement plate", that allows me to weld a longer tube.

Also made a patch to fix a hole in the inner wing / floor pan :

nice work,

If i were making the stands I would consider adding in a horiziontal " leg/ base" to the stands to reduce any possible sideways "wibble" . as they are if you lean on the car this puts twisting force into that mount.

of course if you add the bottom part, then you cant use the stands on one side only.

Just put a couple of things in the engine bay to check if there is enough room around the engine to fit oil catch can, fuse box, etc. This will help me to make the loom as well.

Nice to see a kind of engine in it!

Very nice look!

Big engine in a small car, I'm in ;)

[joke mode] Do you plan to keep the bare metal effect on the body? Mine is also like this at the moment, I'm starting to like it ;)

I have finally received new Specialist Component stuf! Had to wait 2 more weeks after initial sending as SC staff forgot to put some parts in my parcel...

So, I have taken old door cards and fitted one on drivers' side. It was not really "plug'n play", needed to make some adjustments to make it fit perfectly. But I literally love it! My Mini looks like a small GT3 now! ;-)

Then, started tubing rear arches. Usual stuff : prepare, mesure, cut... but couldn't weld ! Need to find some metal sheets now!

I have to show my ultimate tool ! Didn't count how many hours spent to make it :

img_2815.jpg

Works well indeed, I could trace a line following the curve of the rear arch.

Then, refitted the arch extension, waiting to find somewhere to buy new metal!

Were the A panel vents you bought made out of plastic or metal?
