so i take it you've taken the exterior handles off and it work with a remote?

Also, does the passenger have to lean over your lap to push the button to get out?

Im suprised you didnt just remove the manual handle mechanism and use the opener you have there straight from where the mechanical one attaches to the door lock, and so hide it all under the door card???

LOLZ good point, i expect you can just unhook the mechanism and undo the door from the inside.

the door poppers work of a key thob (remote) and there are also to switches inside the car to open the door but i also have the handles inside which arnt on my pics so that you can open the doors as you would in any cars but to allow it to pass the mot i had to leave the handle on the boot as normall so if the battery dies you can enter the boot to change it aand also it has to have to buttons in there so in the event of an emergency some can get in the boot and releace the door via the two switches which are clearly marked DOOR RELEASE. The soloaineds itself are from any volvos because they are the oly ones that are strong enough and then you just have to take the handle abart in the mini by cutting the spring down and then stretching it so that it is the same size as before but it is much weaker. the door popper kit itself can be burchased from must places its just universal witch tells you how to wire it up which is very easy to understand but the door solunoids that comes with the kits are C**p so just bin them because there not stong enought end also conectt the handle and solunoid together by a metel bar because i first tried using wire but theres to much slak on it so therefore cause alot of problems. :o

I have done this on mine but have used a kit from the states, cost £100 and comes with two solenoids, a black box of PFM, and a couple of crappy push buttons for the inside of the car. As far as the law goes you can shave the handles as long as there is a way to open the door from the outside, so I fitted small weatherproof push buttons under each wing mirror... I have about four relays inside all wired up so that i can lock the car (rendering the switches outside the car useless) and also a relay to act as a kill switch. I am yet to shave the door handles off but i will eventually get round to it! As far as the battery going i have found that 9 volt battery gives the solenoid in the door just enough ummph to open it a few time so a small jack plug under the bonnet and a another box with all the electrics in it in the boot to plug in if it does all go pete tong. Failing that i have the old back up of a coat hanger in the boot as well. Trusty old tools. I have made a lot of mods and a m still to finish properly. I will sticka few pics in but no comments back please... it is still work in progress and not yet finished. I am going to make new door cards, obviously, and also a custom dash to house buttons relays etc.

The key fob has four buttons, one each for locking and unlocking the doors and then the other two open each door so you don't have to use the button under the wing mirror.

Enjoy

Has anyone of yet got a solenoid fitted to the boot yet so it can be flushed, ive wanted to do this for a while but the mini boot has the turn handle lock and not the snib type lock like most other cars so obviously before it could be started a snib type latch would need fitted on the inside of the boot first. If anyone knows of a handier way to hook up a popper to the boot so it can be smoothed let me know... :D
