Not quite sure what you are intending, but you can't replace the belt driven fan with an electric one.
When fitting an auxiliary electric fan, it's usual to mount it on the opposite (i.e. outside) side of the inner wing with a switch on the instrument panel.

Mine blasted into the red and stayed there at last years L2B in the rain. This year in hot and sunny it was fine.
I fitted the shroud as mentioned already and the rubber band to seal it. Made a massive difference.
I also put in an aux fan from wired by wilson just on a switch on the dash and now it won't go above normal operating temp sitting in traffic

I’m trying to get hold of an electric fan to fit directly onto my rad between it and the inner wing, I have a clubman but keep seeing 10” fans listed for use with a classic mini… how on earth are people fitting them things in?
I’ve got 9.25” between the raised edges of my rad and that’s still not enough room to mount a 9” fan onto it, so am I missing something here?

there's not enough room between the rad and the inner wing, so needs mounting on the outside of the inner wing

I’ve seen that people have mounted them direct to the rad before and all the expensive kits you can buy seem to suggest mounting direct to the rad as well. As I’ve got a clubman front I don’t think the depth of the fan is an issue as the slotted grill on the inner wing is concave but it’s more the total diameter of the fan… most rads are the same width but I can’t see how people are mounting 10” fans to them or 9” for that matter.

Has anybody here successfully mounted an auxiliary electric fan directly on the rad and can shed some light on the process and size details?

Given the small size of the rad in a mini, an electric fan just blocks one third to one half of the air flow with the motor. This is one of those "Sounds like a good idea despite what everyone says"
Just stick with the original fan, plastic being the prefered option or a tropical fan if more cooling is needed.

I have the Revotec fan kit from Minispares fitted to the rad between the rad and slotted inner wing to my 1990 998 without issue. It comes with brackets that attach to each side of the rad. Expensive, but everything is included in the kit
The instructions in the kit advises to remove the mech fan, but after trialling it like that for a few months, I did what others have done and refitted the mech fan, so now the electric one only comes on if it gets too hot in stationary traffic on a very hot day.

Your inner wing is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS KTS! I wish mine was as clean and rust free as yours. It looks brand new!

Ok mate, thanks for that, do you know what the diameter of the fan was in that kit by any chance?

It's a 9" Comex fan that sucks air from the engine bay through the rad and out into the wheel arch

Mini spares part C-ARA4401

They do a kit both with and without the controller (in case you want to wire in a switch in the cab to switch on/off manually)
