Is there some missing or are some 2step?
Have you taught about machine taps? They aren't conical so to tap right to the bottom of a hole for example.
Ps: not sure they are called like that in English tho...

"Start.............Second....and....Bottom.
I know them as Taper, Intermediate and Bottom or Plug.
Whitworth used to make a set of 5.
The first had a pilot that fitted the tapping hole, so that the thread was cut square to the hole.
Then the usual 3, but slightly undersize, which was very handy for holding studs in place.
The 5th was the "Finish" that took out the last few thou.

And of note, taps also come in spiral point and spiral flute both are machine taps, but the spiral point is for a thropugh hole while the spiral flute is for blind holes and is typically tapered on the first 1 to 2 pitches.
