Hello, I don't get to 3 sync gearboxes often but a local racer came to me with a 333 that had lost a main roller bearing. During the build i replaced the pawl pin in the first gear slider that seemed to be missing.  After it was all assembled the shifter was installed on it and went to shift through the gears and shifts nicely. But the first gear only engages only halfway on the teeth and stops.  At first it was perplexing but after a bit realized it was that pawl holding it from complete engaging. i really don't want to disassemble the box again. So i could just leave it till next season? When does a racecar use first gear ? or is this a real problem and does anyone know why is it designed that way. by the way linkage is installed correctly and splines are centered.  Thanks in advance Aaron  photo's are neutral and 1st fully engaged

I think I'd investigate for peace of mind. You really wouldn't want the situation where it stays engaged in first while you're engaging another gear.

Ok, Problem is solved! It turns out my test remote shifter has a handle from a different car (probably an 1100) and the shift handle was hitting the bolt where the ball goes into the remote housing took the original remote shifter out of the car and it shifted perfectly. Thank you for just being a resource if needed. Aaron
