Looks like an oxygen sensor. Where does the other end of the wire lead to? Exhaust may have been swapped from an injection model?

Worked it out, it is a sensor from when the car did have a cat fitted, so the CO could be measured before the cat. the pipe terminates in the engine bay and there’s a flat head screw on the end of it. When the cat was removed, the previous owner kept the sensor, probably unaware what it was for and drilled a hole and screwed it into the standard exhaust. I have now removed it completely from the car.
