The original Rover P6 2000 was specified to only run on 5-star. If a lower grade was to be used, it was required for the car to be taken to a main dealer to have the ignition system modified. I think they charged a small fortune to retard the static timing by a few degrees. You were told that your performance would be substantially reduced if that was done!
