Good morning!

Yeterday I replaced my 5.5x12 minilites for some 6x10 revos, when I took the rear wheels off there were some fat spacers behind them, must have been a good inch, or the biggest you can get anyway. I had to fit the revos and still use the spacers because the studs have been changed to account for the spacers. This means my rear tyre tread is showing from my arches by about 15mm.

However, my front wheels look a little over arched.

At the moment I'm using the narrower group two arches.

The tread poking out is an mot faliure, so...

Do I;

1. Buy smaller spacers for the back, replace the rear studs to suit

2. Buy the same size spacers for the front wheels as what Iv got on the back at the moment and studs, then buy the wider group 2s seeing as mine are a little tatty anyway.

Hmmmn.

Next issue..

As your looking at the rear of the mini, the right wheel has a fair amount of possitive camber and the left wheel has a fair amount of negative camber.

Why??

Also my car sits slightly lower on the right hand side, my mechanic thinks this is because the knuckle joint is worn?

Sam

Any help much aprechiated!

this should probs be in technical problems.

But what type of brakes are you running?

if you have discs brakes n the front then you should have a spaced drum at the back anyway. if you have another spacer on top of that then i would get rid and just have the spaced type drum on its own

I'd check the track of the rear wheels against that of the front wheels. If you have discs up front it increases the track a bit, so you need spacers on the back, not sure if this is what has happened to your mini? Do you have spacered drums at the rear as well?

I would get some new studs and take the spacer off if its not needed.

As for the rear camber thing, I would say this is linked to your car sitting low on that corner, it could either be the rubber cone has collapsed or the knuckle joint has worn through, if you can afford it, replace both items on both sides.

Drums everywhere :genius:

There was only one spacer on each rear wheel, and they look fairly new too, so Im guessing its just an aftermarket large on.

what jammy said...

sounds like its got something to do with your car being low on one side.

Is it hard to replace the studs?

As for the car sitting wonky, I was saving for new shocks and hilos, will that sort it?

for the studs you need to remove the cap in the middle of the 4 studs, undo the clip, remove the nut. Pull the whole lot out, stick it in a vice and whack em out.

Only tricky bit is remembering that one of the nuts is threaded opposite way so ur wheel doesnt drop off :genius:

Shock absorbers (actually its the damper units you mean, the shocks part is actually the rubber cone), don't regulate the ride height, and if your knuckle joint and/or cone has gone then this will need to be replaced.
