Hi can anyone point me in the direction or give me any information on fitting universal seat sliders into a classic 1971 mini. It currently has the fold foward seats. Wondering how people mounted the new frame as there is a crossmember and no way of mounting the front

Cheers Adam

If you want to just bolt in, you'll have to get some pre-made seat frames,
Eg- https://www.minispar...px|Back to shop

You're other option is to make something similar yourself. You're right that the floorcross member makes fitting flat seat runners a little tricky. I've done it with metro seats by bolting the front directly to the cross member and making legs for the back. This needs use of a welder though

People have fitted a lot of different seats in different ways. Have a search around the forum.

I'm fitting some new seats now , hopefully with these subframes
https://www.minispar...y=Universal sub

and will use some flat bar to bolt the seats to this subframe. Just need to get position right so that the seats don't foul the rear bin or too close to gearstick

I seem to recall there was some discussion about the height of the base, and therefore whether the headrest hits the ceiling when you try and tilt it forwards?  or am I getting that a little confused

I have seen some builds where they cut into the crossmember (and reinforce) to get the seat lower down.. but obviously that's extra skilled work that needs to be considered carefully, and may cause you MOT issues (or maybe not ? who knows these days)

that's really the main reason I gave up on the idea and just resigned to keeping the originals
