Hi, I am new to this forum so would appreciate as many replies as possible.

I have recently bought myself a classic mini Mayfair to do during lockdown as there is no A levels taking place anymore. I am looking to completely strip everything down, including the engine.
There are many threads on how to remove the engine but if possible, an updated and detailed method would be great!
Thanks

Hi thanks so much, I’ve already viewed your video multiple times and was really helpful. Does the second video also apply to a 1000cc engine? Are the concepts pretty much the same?

As long as you undo/disconnect everything that joins the engine to the car/subframe, the engine can be lifted out fairly easily.  Don't forget the little 2" fuel hose at the bulk head......I did.

Good luck.

Yes main concepts are the same on 1000 & 1275cc A-Series engines, the detail differences you can pick up as you progress..

From personal experience...

1. remove the radiator first give more wriggle room

2. I also remove the alternator to get more leverage when trying to get down the back of the engine

3.I undo the carb but leave the cable attached and tuck it out of the way

Playing with an A series is the best A level.

Early summer 1982 and I’m sat in an A-level General Studies exam ... “write about a book you have recently read” was one of the questions .... yes you know where this is going .... I wrote a whole essay about the Haynes Mini Manual 1959 - 1978 ... and I passed the exam!!! I read the manual so many times cover to cover it was likely my best shot at getting a result :)
