Has anyone used LED switchbacks on the front indicators so they act as parking lamps and turn indicators?  Thanks.

I wired my front indicators with dual filament holders (like the MS part# 27H5545) so I could use US type 1157 LEDs. You could easily use white to amber switchbacks. You just reroute the power from the pilot light. You'll need resistors in the circuit if you don't replace the mechanical flasher module with a electronic one. I used 1157 Morimoto X-VF amber in mine, Morimoto also make a switchback version. I had some issues with the cheap 1157 amber LED so be aware the cheap Asian imports can be problematic. I recently redid the front indicator/running lights with Morris Minor low profile types still set up the same way.

Thanks very much.  I agree LED lights can be hit or miss.  Definitely get what you pay for.

So if you do switchbacks I think what you want is Minispares part 1B9100MS which is a dual filament holder with a clear lens they're only $9 or so, the LEDs will cost more than the holders...

I use them, they work great. Aussie cars have clear lower lenses, and the parking lights there too - at night it's white and flashes white on top which is super hard to see.

You can use these like DRL's at the front - when the parkers are on it's a bright white, then it turns off and flashes amber when the indicator is on

These are the bulbs

There is a video of them working here

Too bad shipping is so much to the U.S. and I just placed an order with Minispares for other stuff.  :(

They’d also have them at the US shops like minimania and seven mini parts

Eg

Thanks Timmy.  I just noticed those housings only have 2 wires.  Is it grounded thru the mounting plate?

Yes, they are grounded through the plate into the body

I run a pair from classic leds that switch the side lights off when indicating. I had a set prior that didn’t which made it difficult to see the indicator flashing
