Can anyone recommend a radio/CD/MP3 player that will 'fit the slot' in my walnut dashboard and wont look too out of place? The radio CD player that was fitted when I bought the mini has had it.

Thanks in advance.

Any new unit will do, you can get alot of units with Bluetooth or USB etc. Personally I'd go around a few audio shops to see if they'll let you try a demo unit to see how it looks

I've got a Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB Car Stereo Bluetooth, CD, USB, Aux-In,DAB, Tuner in mine.

Takes a bit of fiddling to get it not to light up like a disco but it comes complete with a microphone for hands-free phone calls and plays music straight from the eight days' worth I have in my iPhone. (Picture 1)

Or if you want to stay original? (Picture 2)

Mine has this Kenwood walnut effect unit. 90s at it's finest. I like it as its period correct and you don't see many!

I use a caliber rcd120bt if you want something that looks classic and it has built in BT

You wouldn't happen to have a photo of it fitted would you? Are the standard radio plugs compatible or are mods required?

Regards~

I only have these two photos (it's the previouse model without built in BT, then a friend who owns a caraudio shop swapped it for the new model).
The car already had an aftermarket radio so I don't know if this "plug" is original or not.

There was a recent YouTube from classic Mini Workshop showing how to add bluetooth to the OEM cassette headunit.

In my '98 JDM I swapped from a modern unit back to an o/e Mini-branded radio cassette and one major benefit that I'd never even considered is that all the tiny and very touch sensitive buttons on the modern unit were nigh on impossible to adjust easily when moving and bouncing around in the Mini, as you do! With the much more basic period unit, the limited but big buttons are much easier to use.
