Hi All

I'm in the very early stages of stripping down a 1275 engine which I plan to rebuild. My initial thoughts I to get it rebored to 1310 but looking for recommendation for places which can do this in Liverpool/North West area.

I have done a quick google search and search on the forum but not had much luck. Ideally would like a place which has experience with the A+ engine so I can chat through my options.

Thanks in advance

I know not that close to you, but I used these guys, very reasonable priced and super helpful, no BS, but they have had long lead times, as they are popular.

Worth a call, as they are very knowledgeable and will chat through the options.

I'd recommend Road and Competition Engineering (RACE) near Preston. Jim and his team did an excellent job of relining and rebuilding my engine. They don't have a website, they do have a presence on Facebook (but don't rely on it -they're old skool) give them a bell on 01254 831644

Try Lane Ends in St Helens, well established traditional shop. I've only had a cylinder head done by them (non Mini) but they did a fine job, someone else on here used them and seemed happy.

Jim is currently building the engine for my Elf, so far comms and progress have been good.  If you get to visit the workshop it's a proper Aladdins cave, certainly not the sterile main dealer type operating theatre you see these days:-). Ringing the number above is the best bet as mentioned Jim doesn't really do IT.

Thank Guys. I will give the places mentioned above a call. Currently waiting patiently for flywheel puller I order to arrive so fully dismantle and have a proper look at things.

i phoned lane ends when i wanted my 998 one size over and it was around £200+vat, and seemed quite arsey on the phone.

I went to diesel craft in widnes, and i think it was £120 all in. I had a few other jobs done at the same time, the valve guides, seats, and i forget what else, but it was ok price.

They have done quite a few mini engines, and also did the head on my volvo b230, did the machining to make it solid lifters, skimmed the head, reseated the valves, etc.

Theres also Wigan Engines, local to me but never used them.

They might only do head skims/rebuilds though... Not sure about a rebore/overbore...
