Hi,
Thanks in advance.

Failed mot yesterday for a failed bulb, sure it was working when I checked everything last weekend! Anyway, it’s failed for that plus the ‘tell tale’ on the dash not working. Before I start working out what type of bulb it is on the dash etc is the dash bulb linked/part of the circuit of the actual headlight bulb? In otherwords, when I replace the headlight bulb Will the dash bulb probably start working again?

Thanks

Hi

Do you have headlights which are sealed beam or Halogen bulbs ?

Additionally, what instrument panel do yo have as clocks - the old 1 or 3 clock binnacle offset - or a 2 or 3 set in front of the drivers wheel ?

They use different bulbs - hence this question.

Hi, thanks,

The headlights are halogen, H4 off the top of my head, the dash is 3 in front of wheel.

Some dismantling required to access them then. The tell tale is wired in parallel, just a branch off the main beam wiring so it would work even if you had no headlights. It may well be the bulb, but might be the printed circuit or a poor connection somewhere.

No dismantling required IF the car doesn't have the lower dash liner in that area.

Acess is from the large gap at the side of the steering column

Give the bulb holder a 1/4 turn and it should pull out the back of the guage. The bulb required is a 501 capless bulb

This was fuse 16 in the box by the way, as soon as I saw that it covered the drivers side full beam and the warning light it had to be that.
