A couple of months ago I bought one of the new, more expensive, fuel tank filler grommets from Minispares to replace the previous version which had been a black smudgy mess pretty much from day one.

Only got round to fitting it earlier this week but the quality is great, far more flexible and a much better finish than the old one.

Excellent work from Minispares and it's great to have a choice between low cost and high quality parts.

Hopefully enough enthusiasts will be willing to pay that bit extra to make it worthwhile for the likes of Minispares to keep investing in better products like this.

Even top quality rubber components which come into contact with modern petrol will suffer.

Bloody ethanol :goaway:

So is this a recently introduced part from Minispares?

Will you report back in a year or two and let us know how it's lasting please.  I bought a fuel tank grommet from Minispares a few years ago and within a year the rubber had cracked.

Yes, newly introduced part using better quality rubber than the one you probably bought. The difference in quality is clear immediately but, as you say, it will be interesting to see how it holds up.

The Minispares seal (linked above) in made of edpm which isn’t very resistant to fuels, surely they should be making them from Viton?
