This is an old tale of confusion and one I know there are many old threads on..
I’m wondering what the current feelings on the issue are?

I’ve got a mini based kit car that would probably be better suited to 13” due to the arch profile but 12” will likely be ‘ok’

Handling, fuel economy and ‘look’ etc are all interesting to me..
For what it’s worth I’d be looking at 165 width on the 12” wheels over the 145 width

Thoughts?

Thank you

Your opinion that matters isn’t it, I’ve had all three and 13’s aren’t as bad a people make out. What kit car is it?

Just wait to be told to paint your mini red, 4.5x10 without those ‘stupid arch extensions’ on this forum.

I’ve got 13s on mine with arch extensions. It would be really boring if we all drive around in identical cars.
As said above it’s YOUR oppinion that matters, whatever floats your boat and makes you happy .

I have standard 12 on my car and have no desire to change them. Why the hate for 13?the wheel tyre diameter is almost the same or they would not fit.The argument that "designed for 10 does not handle as well destroys the suspension and bearings" etc is thin.I suspect most drivers on real road conditions would be hard pressed to tell.Your car your choice.Steve..

I've had the same car on 10s, 12s and 13s. Difference between 12s and 13s was noticeable but not mind blowing. The difference between 12s and 10s was much more marked to the point I would agree with comments recommending 10s over anything else.

It's got nothing to do with 'make it standard/purity', that's just personal opinion. For me, it has everything to do with the way the car feels to drive.

Best option is 10 inch rims BUT 12s can still be good, imo the worst rims for a mini are 13s although they look good the handling and ride, especially on highways is what makes me keep to 10 or 12 inch rims. Maximum width is a 6 inch, any wider and it will cause premature wear of ball joints, wheelbearings etc

I would go with whatever fills the arch better and looks good on the car.

That being said if you decide to go 13 and want to get rid of those 12's i would make an offer in a heartbeat. Those are exactly what i am looking for to go on my car.

Parted with the 12’s to a local-isn forum member

I’m going to keep any eye out for some interesting 13” wheels and see what comes of that

Thank you to everyone for he input

Yes 10” wheels are great but they just wouldn’t have looked anything near right in this application
