Bosch blue epoxy filled (3 ohm) coil will outlast your grandchildren driving your car. Get the one made in Brazil, you won’t regret it. Amazon sells ‘em for about $40 US.

They are about £30-35 in UK ... plus p&p :)

I have been fitting these Viper dry coils from power spark when carrying out my mobile tuning service. These work and work well.

Thanks to Steam, Cooperman, Croc, Ethel (it's a pleasure to always read you), Gazza and ACDood for you replies.

To summarize, I want to test the coil that I have now in the electronic ignition in my old and traditional dizzy just to see if I get a more accurate curve. Beru coil 25.600V and 3 ohms resistance in the primary circuit,... and obviously I don't want to burn anything ( points.. condenser..)

So.. the question is clear; are both elements compatible?

Cheers !

Electronic and convetiomal distributors require different coils. In fact with electronic you need the specific coil for the particular system, they are all different.

Hello, I appreciate your answer, but I do not agree with it. This is not my coil but in this case, YES it's "compatible" with both systems.

If you use a coil with the incorrect primary resistance on electronic distributors. it will blow the module, maybe not immediately but it will blow. Also your spark will be reduced. Most electronic distributors require a coil of 1.5 ohms or less.

Believe the ignition manufacturer not the coil salesman!!

Hi Steam! Yes, using the wrong coil for an electronic module causes it to burn out. In my case, it is to know if the points or the condenser would burn with this coil.

As for my electronic ignition (123ignition), the coil to fit there must have "at least" 1ohm(Ω) in the primary circuit... or you've got a dissaster.

Regards
