Any advice, experience?
£200 / £400+
It’s a significant difference

The people that bought heritage will swear by them, the ones that bought pattern will say there's no difference. (I bought heritage :-))

Where did you get your non genuine from? I’m looking at mini spares.

As a pensioner I would look to repair first, then buy the cheapest next.If you once need to enlarge a hole or file anything on a genuine one then I see it as wasting £200.Others have different priorities and expectations.Choose to suit your situation.Have fun.Steve..

Good advice. Just taken my rear subframe off. A few stubborn nuts and bolts. Even with Plus Gas. I’ve had a good look at it and applied a gentle scrub / grind / chip away at the weld joints in the corners. All were split. Very little effort gave way to plenty of corroded metal flaking away to expose a couple of holes lying otherwise out of sight. It’s no doubt repairable for someone who can weld. That’s not me. I’m very much spanners and sockets. So I’m getting a new subframe. Mini Spares after market. They say their staff have fitted them without issues. I believe them. The adventure continues. Wonder what the front subframe is like?

Front subframes have an in built Anti Rust agent from new.... its called the A series ... no oil under .. no oil in it

Back in the day my father worked for Mann Egerton amongst others, new BL cars in the show room parked over carpets, was bril, but the trick was... none had any oil in them... ruins the carpet you see....

A bit like an old triumph motorbike? A free oil leak (at least one) with every purchase.
Mini front subframes don’t rust?
Is that the only part of the car that can make such a claim?
Are replacement front subframes therefore for accident damage?

Pretty much from accident damage yes... I have never seen a front mini subframe condemned for rust... others may know different though... I replaced a few of miy own due to running out of talent around the same time as I ran out of race track...

I’d thoroughly recommend the new Minispares, own brand, non-genuine frame. Have spoken to a number of specialists and they all recommended these. My own went together, and onto the car really well. I believe these are the only non-genuine type they now sell.

Thanks. That’s the one I’m going for.
Don’t suppose you’ve fitted / replaced the rear lower wheel arch valence closing repair panel?
